Janssen Legacy

The pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson have adopted a common identity, Janssen, that will allow us to share knowledge regarding research and strengthen collaboration across companies in order to deliver innovative global health solutions to our customers and patients.

The Janssen name comes from Dr. Paul Janssen, who founded one of our earliest pharmaceutical companies. “Dr. Paul,” as he was known, believed in taking risks, being proactive, and driving for constant innovation to achieve progress and transformation—qualities and behaviors we strive for across our organization.

The Janssen name embodies a commitment to finding solutions for patients by advancing science and medicine on their behalf. We will continue to build our name to be synonymous with high scientific ideals, groundbreaking innovation and values consistent with Our Credo.

To honor the legacy of Dr. Paul, we created The Dr. Paul Janssen Award for Biomedical Research, which recognizes the work of an active scientist or group of scientists in academia, industry or a scientific institute who has made a significant, transformational contribution toward the improvement of human health.
